Within the Name Warden on boarding sequence, or any time when logged into your account, you can add a defensive monitoring search that will show you when a similar mark is filed in an international class that you care about.
ADDING A DEFENSE
In the on boarding sequence, after you find and claim your docket marks, you will get to the "Defend a Mark?" portion of the program. Three are free within the basic annual docketing service, so go ahead and tinker with it.
Choose one of your docketed marks to defend, and then you'll give that defense a name (e.g. ACME JETPACK's Mark Defense). Once named, this defense will be associated with a family name. By default is the name of the applicant or registrant. This will help you keep a client's defenses organized in a set as you add more defenses.
Next is Classifications, where you choose what International Classes you want to watch for similar filings. The defended mark's class or classes are included by default.
Add more classes by searching by number ("25" for example, to include clothing) or by searching for a keyword ("clothing," "scientific," "software," "beer," etc.) for other classes you want to add. Click the green class number square to add a class to your defensive search. Make a mistake? Click the green square again to remove a class.
You can choose all by clicking the link below the search box ("Click Here to report...").
If you want to further refine your defensive monitoring search, step 4 of 5 lets you add Boolean search logic to refine the results that you will see, using either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search options. You can also skip this for now and manage your search volume and refine its relevance later.
ADDING A DEFENSE LATER
When logged into the site, the "Defense" link at the top of the page will take you to the Defense screen, where a "Build a Defense" link near the top right will allow you to add more defenses.
This Build a Defense link from within your account also allows you to monitor marks that are not in your docket, and to monitor by design codes for logo marks.
